As of February 2020, Mrs. Mahym Orazmuhammedova has assumed her duties as IOM Belarus Chief of Mission.

During the previous two years (2018-2019), she served as Chief of Mission for IOM in Fiji leading national and multi-country migration agenda and being principal interlocutor with the Government of the Republic of Fiji.

For seven years (2010-2017), she held the position as the Head of Office in IOM Turkmenistan. Prior to joining to IOM, she worked for UNDP (2006-2008) and USAID (2001-2005) managing the projects and programs on environment and health issues.

Civil society development, countering-human trafficking and migration and climate change are the main areas of Mrs. Orazmuhammedova’s expertise. In addition, she leads the country programs on migration issues and supporting the country development on boarder management, emergency preparedness and response, and health issues.

Mrs. Orazmuhammedova holds an M.A. in Health, Community and Development, from London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE), UK and Bachelor’s degree as a Philologist and English language teacher from Institute of World Languages, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

She is fluent in English, Russian and Turkmen and has working knowledge of Turkish.

Mrs. Orazmuhammedova is the national of Turkmenistan, married and has three children.
